Who Is the Jester?
The Jester is the guardian of the circus's darkest secrets. He usually speaks quickly and humorously, but becomes serious whenever Harlequin is mentioned. His writing references the real Commedia dell'Arte tradition — the Italian theatrical form that gives the whole cast (Pierrot, Harlequin, Columbina) their names and archetypes.
